How to calculate the protection range of lightning tower

At present, the calculation formulas for the lightning rod protection range in various countries around the world are different in form. Generally speaking, there are the following calculation methods:
1. Broken line method: that is, the protection range of a single lightning rod is a broken line cone.
2. Curve method: that is, the protection range of a single lightning rod is a curved cone.
3. Straight-line method: It is determined by taking the tip of the lightning rod as the vertex and making a depression angle. Buildings with explosion risks use a 45° angle, and for general buildings, use a 60° angle. In essence, the protection range is a straight cone.
Since 1983, my country has officially formulated its own lightning protection regulations. At present, my country's building lightning protection specification GB50057-94 also adopts the rolling ball method recommended by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as the calculation method for the protection range of lightning rods.
The calculation method of the protection range of lightning rods says: The calculation methods of the protection range of commonly used lightning rods (here only refers to single needles) mainly include the broken line method and the rolling ball method. For this reason, a preliminary analysis and discussion on the calculation of the "broken line method" and the "rolling ball method" was carried out, and it was concluded that: "broken line method" "The main features of the "rolling ball method" are that the design is intuitive, the calculation is simple, and the investment is saved, but it is not applicable when the building height is greater than 20m; the main feature of the "rolling ball method" is that it can calculate the protection range when the lightning rod (band) is combined with the grid, but the calculation is relatively complex and the investment cost is relatively high.
